Lorna Tempest, LPC, LMFT
Therapist in Richmond, Virginia
What I love most about being a therapist is having the opportunity to help others as they experience shifts, life changes and transitions. I believe in offering a safe, warm, and meaningful experience in therapy. As a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and Washington DC, and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 15+ years experience, I welcome the chance to work with children, parents, families, and adults.
My work centers on supporting my clients while we devise a road map that builds on their strengths and expands on their resilience. My past two decades of life as part of a military family has given me a glimpse into the many changes and transitions individuals and families are constantly navigating. Over the course of my career I’ve helped people cope with depression and anxiety and heal from trauma. I have supported parents as they adjust to new additions to their family. I have worked with adolescents adapting to the changes of young adulthood, and been a sounding board for adults feeling stuck and trying to balance the challenges of their careers, relationships, and personal lives.
Both life and change have twists and turns, and each person’s path looks and feels uniquely different. As a therapist my focus is on connection, obtaining clarity, and finding the confidence necessary to forge ahead. I bring warmth and genuine curiosity to every therapy session, and believe in creating a welcoming space to explore the things that matter to you.
Everyone’s story is deeply personal and I look forward to working with people from all backgrounds and all communities. Ultimately, I believe that people best navigate and create change when their experience is approached with compassion and curiosity, and they begin to live a life most aligned with their personal values as they craft their next steps. Thank you for being here. I look forward to working with you!
